M: Did you just post this notice on the door?
W: Yes, 1 did. It’s about the dorm guest policy ‘ There have been a lot 01 complaints, so the “guest hours" are
          changing
M: Are they becoming longer or shorter?
W: Guests will be allowed in the dorm lor a shorter time. They will have to leave earlier in the evening in order
to allow students to have peace and quiet
M: That’s a great idea. 1 know that sometimes it can get really noisy around here. 1 have had many assignments
lall victim to noise in the halls. It makes it really hard to concentrate when there are so many people around
W: Well , some students will probably complain about the new policy. They leel that there should be more
Ilexibility in our policy. However, I'm optimistic that the overall response to the new policy will be good
M: There are delinitely pros and cons to a policy like this, but 1’m really happy about this. 1 think that it is going
to make people more aware and more respectful 01 their neighbors
W: Yes, and it will reduce the number 01 arguments among the residents. The rules are very strict, and there
will be no exceptions. This means that everyone has to follow the same rules , and everyone will be treated
          equally
M: That‘s great. It will bring a lot 01 peace to our living environment, and 1 think the majority 01 the students
          will be happier

W: 1 think that it is better to shop at an independent store. This type 01 store is owned and operated by locals
You are supporting your own community by buying there. This makes s니re that the money stays in your
community. You are also helping the people who work at the store. This is done by helping to pay their
salary and increasing their standard 01 living. A big chain store will often pay its employees a much lower
salary. Shopping at the independent stores helps to make your community stronger. This is because you
are directly helping people in your community more

        Sample response 2
M: 1 don’t think that it matters where you choose to shop. The most important thing is to choose the place that
gives you the best bargains. Everyone works hard lor his or her money They should spend their
hard-earned money wisely. 1I an independent store gives the best deal , then you should shop there. Every
store is competing lor your business. So it is very important that they do everything that they can to give
you the best deals. In the end, the more money you have in your pocket, the happier you are going to be
