Preparation
Military Service
Military service is part of the Korean culture. It
is a national obligation for every Korean man
to spend two years of his life in a camp doing
military duties. Between the ages eighteen
and thirty-five, he is expected to render his
service. It is mandatory for all to have it unless
he was diagnosed as physically or mentally unfit by the authorities. Going to the
army, he has to quit school for the meantime. He will spend the first five weeks
in a training camp. For the rest of the period, he will stay in his respective units.
Within those two years, he will experience all sorts of things that would change
his life forever.
