Sightseeing: Korean Folk Village 관광지 안내: 민속촌 Lesson18
                    Dialog

Brown So, this is the Korean Folk Village you've been talking about.
Kim That's right. Many tourists, both foreigners and Koreans, visit(come)
                            here.
Brown I see. I can't wait to go in and see it myself. Speaking of which, what
                            exactly is inside?
Kim You'll see many different types of traditional Korean houses and some
                            aspects of traditional culture.
Brown So, you mean that the houses are all traditional ones?
Kim Yes, but the types of houses vary based on where people lived and
                            (their)social status, etc.
Brown And what are some distinguishing features of traditional Korean
                            houses?
Kim I would say the wooden floors, called "maru", and also what is known
                            as "ondol".
Brown So, what we're sitting on is maru, but what is ondol?
Kim The word "ondol" means "warm stone". Basically, it's an under-floor
heating system. It's still used to heat homes nowadays, too.
Brown I see. That's a brilliant idea, especially during a harsh winter.
Kim Yes. If you think about the lifestyle in Korea, you can imagine just how
important ondol was and still is.

Brown Oh, what's going on over there? I see a crowd of people.
Kim That's a stage for traditional folk performances.
Brown Oh, is that right? I want to see what one is like.
Kim It looks like a performance is going to start soon. Shall we go and have
                            a look?
Brown Yes, of course. Let's go.
