The Everglades Story                                                                          Why did Marjory Stoneman Douglas write about

                                                                                                    She wanted to warn that the Everglades would

                 People became worried about the




           Everglades. In 1947, a woman named



           Marjory Stoneman Douglas wrote a book



           called The Everglades: A River of Grass.




           She warned that the Everglades would

           That same year, the president of the United




           States created Everglades National Park to
