future writing assignments.
Elise: I would not want to impose on you as much again next time.

1. What do you think is the most important rule for business writing?

I think the most important thing is clarity. Readers usually have limited time to go over
what you’ve written so it is important to clearly state what you mean.

2. How do you usually achieve clarity in your writing?

Sample answer:
I usually use shorter sentences and simpler words. I’m also careful on properly con-
structing my sentences so they don’t become ambiguous. I see to it that I check right
after I write. I don’t want any flaws in the end.

3. Have you had any experience with writing that is not business-like in your
work?
