The skills listed did not entirely correspond to the requirements for the position. Most
employers would have less consideration for a person with a resume that has not been
well thought of.
3. How important do you think is a good resume?
Sample answer:
A good resume provides initial contact between you and a prospective employer.
Through a good resume, a company would decide whether a candidate would be a
good employee or not. It is your resume that would have to speak on your behalf.
1. Your group is thinking of hiring a new sales representative. The first screen-
ing is ongoing and you are tasked to evaluate the resumes that had been
sent in.
Sample answer:
These are the resumes that we have received so far. I had a hard time reading some of
the resumes since the font sizes were too small. After doing a cursory check on the
educational backgrounds of the candidates, I discovered that only half of them had
taken the marketing and management courses required for this position. I further nar-
rowed it down to three applicants who had the appropriate work experience. When
I thoroughly read these three, I noticed that this one seems to be the most carefully
written resume.
2. Your friend is thinking of moving to another company, since she heard of a
better position as a marketing communications coordinator being offered
there. She asks for your help in formulating her resume.
Sample answer:
The most important thing to remember when writing a resume is making it complete
but concise. You should include a complete educational background and mention
your undergraduate thesis since it is highly relevant to this position. You should also
incorporate work experience related to marketing and coordination of events. You
could also bring up your good communication and interpersonal skills. Don’t forget
to include your contact details but be sure that the contact numbers are still working.
Lastly, make sure the font and formatting makes your resume easy to read.
