I’m trying to customize my resume to
fit for that particular job.
Rina: Hi Vanessa! What are you working on?
Vanessa: I’m going to apply for a newly-opened position. Would you help me edit my resume?
Rina: Well that’s very interesting news about you.
Vanessa: Please be mum about it. I don’t want to pre-empt it.
Rina: I have some free time. What position are you applying for?
Vanessa: I am trying out for a job as a marketing communications coordinator.
Rina: I can see that you have been able to incorporate your skills significantly.
Vanessa: I have been browsing through the internet to produce a well-written resume.
Rina: That is right.
Vanessa: I have also included an explanation on why I would like to work for their company.
Rina: Good job, you have included all the necessary information concisely.
Vanessa: Thanks! Do you have comments on the format?
Rina: The font type and size is good, however the lines appear to be too close together.
Vanessa: Really?
Rina: If you could increase the spacing a little more, the over-all appearance would improve.
Vanessa: I’ll consider your remarks. Thanks very much!
Rina: Oh, that was nothing!
1. What do you think are the things to remember when writing a resume?
Sample answer:
I think the most important thing is to understand the skills needed for and the de-
mands of the job. The resume should contain an exhaustive list of the qualifications
that’ll make you appropriate for the position. The content should be clearly presented,
along with proper formatting.
2. Have you ever encountered a poorly-written resume?
Sample answer:
I came across a resume, which contained a few grammatical and typographical errors.
