3. How would you make sure that the reader understands the proposal you
wrote?
Sample answer:
One way is to tailor-fit the proposal to the reader. In this case, since it is a business
proposal I can make sure that the reader is able to relate to the terms in the body of
the text.
1. Your sister is writing a term paper for school. She is asking for your help.
She doesn’t know how to start writing the paper. You decided to share your
knowledge.
Sample answer:
The first thing to do would be to create an outline of your ideas. Write them down and
then arrange them according to how you want them presented to the reader. Once
you have your outline, start writing the paper based on that outline. Use it as a guide
to keep you on track, and make sure that the ideas are all relevant. Keep your text
concise and the sentences direct to the point. Never use flowery words which will only
complicate your paper. Just be sure that all your ideas are all first written on a paper
before you lay them all on your term paper.
2. Your colleague is creating a memo to address office issues. He wants to make
sure that the memo is concise and direct to the point. He asks you to proof-
read his memo.
Sample answer:
The ideas you presented on the memo are good. I think you just need to make it more
concise. Remove any sentence that is not relevant to the topic. Be aware, since the
memo is going to be read by different people from different departments, you have
to use words that are familiar to everyone. Also, arrange your ideas in proper order,
especially when giving instructions. You have to make sure everyone who reads your
memo really understands its contents and will be able to follow the instructions. Make
sure that all the facts, key terms are laid down upon. Never make the memo a lot more
complicated as expected.
