Abstract
This dissertation aimed to study (1) to study the concepts, theories, and
anger management from a psychological perspective, (2) to examine the Dhamma for
anger conquering in Theravada Buddhist scriptures and 3) to integrate psychological
anger management with the Dhamma in Theravada Buddhist scriptures. The study
employed a Mixed Methods Research approach with an Exploratory Sequential
Design. The research framework was based on Spielberger’s psychological anger
management theory. The sample consists of 415 individuals aged 20 and older who do
not have psychiatric disorders, was selected using Snowball sampling and evaluated
with the State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory (STAXI). Data were analyzed using
Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). The
research results were found as follows;
1) Anger, according to psychological approaches, was a natural human
emotion. It was both positive and negative effects. Therefore, managing anger was
should focus on creating it constructively rather than eliminating it. The research
suggested a psychological anger management method known as the “RRCCFLHR
Model.”
2) Anger had negative impacts, such as self-destruction and suffering, and
thus needs to eliminate or conquer it. A cause of Anger was Akusala-måla: roots of
