Nāgarakrĕtāgama provides an account of King
Hayam Wuruk's journey around the Majapahit region,
as evidenced by its original name Desyawarnana. The
kingdom's journeys in 1359, 1360, and twice in 1361 are
described in detail, highlighting various aspects of
community life: social structure, major religions and
their institutional organizations, the people's
economy, local and international trade, material
culture, arts, language and literature, folk games and
entertainment, government and the political structure
of the kingdom, as well as the position of the king and
his extended family.
It also records discussions with the village community
about their rights, which provides an insight into how
democracy was practiced in a 14th-century Indonesian
kingdom. The regulation and administration of
various religious institutions demonstrate freedom of
religion and equal rights for their adherents.
