Exploring Indonesia
The “Kartini Letters (KITLV)” collection contains 326 valuable
documents, including 101 original handwritten letters from
Kartini to her friend Jacques Henry Abendanon and his wife, as
well as letters from her younger siblings. This collection
provides a direct insight into Kartini's thoughts, struggles, and
ideals, which later inspired the birth of the women's education
and emancipation movement in Indonesia. The Kartini Letters
and Archives has been successfully registered as Memory of
the World Inscription in 2025 by Indonesia and Netherlands
