The Works of Hamzah Fansuri
The works of Hamzah Fansuri spread widely throughout the archipelago,
as evidenced by the discovery of 19 manuscripts in various regions, from
Aceh, Barus, Minangkabau, South Sumatra, to the Malay Peninsula, Riau,
Singapore, Java, Banten, West Java, Central Java, Makassar, and even
Bima in Eastern Indonesia. This widespread distribution is truly
remarkable, especially when one considers that at the end of the 16th
century and the beginning of the 17th century, means of transportation
were still very limited. This fact shows how great Hamzah Fansuri's
influence was in the world of Malay literature and thought. The
Manuscripts of Hamzah Fansuri have been successfully registered as
Memory of the World Inscription in 2025 by Indonesia and Malaysia
