So, the different colour pigments in the different colour papers change the
reflected colour of the same paints that are a true colour on white paper.
This is exactly the same with Semi-Permanent colours on bleached hair,
the paint is laid down on the surface of the white paper (cuticle scales in
the case of hair) the colour reflected from the paints (semi permanent hair
dye in the case of hair) is not altered by any pigments reflected from the
white paper (the Cortex in the case of hair).
As is the case with different colour papers changing the colour of the
paints applied to it, and in some cases the same colour paints as the paper
not showing at all, is the same for semi-permanent colours applied to
darker hair colour bases. The colour pigments reflected from the darker
bases overpower the colour reflected from the semi-permanent coloured
translucent cuticle scales.
