Semi-permanent Colour.
Semi permanent chemical colour products are produced by the Hair
colour companies also vegetable dyes such as Henna and crazy colour are
also semi-permanent hair colours. Semi-permanent colours are basically
a stain that is not mixed or activated by hydrogen peroxide as with
permanent hair dyes and bleaches. The semi-permanent colour is usually
massaged into the hair after shampooing and left to activate for thirty
minutes. When the colour is rinsed off, the cuticle scales only remain
stained. (Fig 27.)
Some penetration takes place but never below the cuticle layers. These
semi-permanent colours unless on bleached hair are not as vibrant as we
would like them to be, because the natural pigments from the cortex still
show through. (Fig 28.)
