14 THE SOJOURNER
FRIEND TO FRIEND -- SOJOURNER STYLE
Nine years seems like a long time … doesn’t it ???!!!! But when you enjoy what you are doing and the peo-
ple you are working with, it’s like a fleeting moment in hindsight. In addition, the “work” is really a pleasure
and not a chore. Part of the reason is for the pleasure of the friendships that are cultivated and matured in that
time. Such is the case with the National Trustees. We are a merry little band of nine dedicated Sojourners
who think the world of National Sojourners. We get joy and pleasure out of moving our Order forward and
securing its future during our “our time at bat.” Well, the tenure for a couple of us has come to an end – our
National Chairman, Bro. Harry Sanders, and a member of our Finance Committee, Bro. Tom Kuhn, have ex-
hausted their allotted time … it’s that Reg thing. As we gathered one last time in Milwaukee as a unit, we ex-
pressed our mutual thanks and appreciation … the remaining members thanked these two for their mentorship,
their leadership, and their skills. Oh yes, and for their friendship. We had moments of tears and more moments
of joy in those years. Ironically, in a twist on a theme, these two brought and offered gifts to the rest of us.
Isn’t it supposed to be the other way around? Well, seven of us were the benefactors of their generosity. But
then, there was another thoughtful twist. Brother Tom honored Brother Harry with a statuette of the Friend-to-
Friend memorial at Gettysburg Battlefield. A truly class Act !!!
