LIGHT HORSE HARRY LEE CAMP, (Old Dominion Chapter #364), Les Albers, Adjutant.
On February 22, 2025, five members of Light Horse Harry Lee Camp were significant participants in the
commemoration of the 293rd birthday of Brother George Washington at his Mount Vernon tomb. The annual
event was hosted by WM Phillip Adam Smartt, the 164th Worshipful Master of Alexandria-Washington
Lodge #22. The lodge was on chartered on April 28, 1788, by Virginia Governor and Grand Master of Masons
Edmond Randolph under the Grand Lodge of Virginia, with George Washington as Master. RW Daniel Clark
(Hero) provided the opening prayer. Before posting the first memorial wreath on behalf of Old Dominion
Chapter #364, Brother William Sanner, Federal Area Representative and President of 364, provided stirring
remarks recounting the military and political achievements of Brother Washington that were essential to the
founding of this democratic republic. Wreaths were also posted by Brother Washington’s Fredericksburg
Lodge #4 by Worshipful Master Michael Dove, Wor. Kenneth Nagel, President of the George Washington
Masonic National Memorial Association, Worshipful Master Bro. Smartt, Alexandria-Washington Lodge
#22, and by Most Worshipful Gary Dwight Huffman, the 179th Grand Master of Masons in Virginia. Three
Heroes of Light Horse Harry Lee Camp provided the color guard in continental uniforms: Joseph Spruill, John
Vanden Berghe and Les Albers.
