NATIONAL SECRETARY’S DESK
The Mid-Winter Meeting (MWM) was held 8-11 January, 2023, with 104 attendees.
Like with previous years, it is a time and place for National committee and officer
meetings, workshop and training, and socializing. Highlights or key events worth
noting from the MWM include the National Secretary meeting discussing updates
with the National database (MMS) and the announcement of a new and improved
website, a ZOOM briefing by Brother Ed Nolte, PNP, PNC, on the proposed Policy
and Procedures Manual, a leadership meeting between our National President,
Brother Denny Norris, and the Area and Regional Representatives, National Committees and National
Officers. Also, the Resolutions Committee met twice to discuss the 10 proposed resolutions that will be voted
upon at the next Annual National Convention (ANC).
Speaking of the next ANC, I hope you are making plans to attend our ANC this coming 12-17 June. If your
cable tow is short and unable to attend the entire convention, try and attend the business sessions on 15 and 16
of June (Thursday and Friday). Registration and other information regarding the ANC may be found in the
members area on our newly updated website (nationalsojourners.org). We also have ANC information listed
in this issue of The Sojourner. Remember to purchase an ad in the ANC Souvenir Ad Book. It’s fun and it
helps to defer costs of holding an ANC. Anyone may purchase an ad – individual members, Chapters,
Committees or a group of friends. Be creative and have fun with it and support the National Sojourners ANC!
Secretaries and all members are reminded:
• Award recognitions and nominations are now due 31 March to hq@nationalsojourners.org.
• Chapter Excellence nominations are now due 1 April to Regional or Area Representatives.
• Nominations for National Elected Offices should be sent to hq@nationalsojourers.org ASAP.
• Legion of Honor nominations should be mailed to HQ per procedures dictated in the I&A Handbook.
Failure to comply will result in a rejection of processing the nomination.
Sincerely and fraternally,
Mark W. Underwood
National Secretary-Treasurer
