LIHOLIHO KA MO‘I CAMP, Hawaiian Chapter #9, Jan Kershner, Adjutant.
June 14, 2025 – In a moving tribute beneath the Hawai’i State Capitol Rotunda, we commemorated the 136th
Anniversary of Flag Day and celebrated the 250th Birthday of the United States Army—a quarter-millennium
of selfless service and unwavering duty. The Heroes of ’76 Liholiho Ka Mo‘i Camp, proudly representing
Hawaiian #9, National Sojourners, stood in honor of our nation’s legacy. The event brought together military,
Masonic, and civic leaders in celebration of the ideals that unite us as Americans—freedom, duty, and unity.

HAWAIIAN CHAPTER #9, Jan Kershner, Secretary. Honoring Our Silent Service Heroes.
On Memorial Day, members of Liholiho Ka Mo‘i Camp of Hawaiian #9 participated in a solemn and
meaningful ceremony hosted by Bowfin Base, U.S. Submarine Veterans Inc., at the USS Parche Memorial on
SUBASE Pearl Harbor. The Camp presented the colors with dignity, setting the tone for a reverent tribute to
those who gave their lives in the Silent Service during World War II. CDR Hollaway, USN, and Camp
Commander, delivered the traditional “Toast to the Flag,” reflecting on the courage and sacrifice of our lost
submariners. The ceremony served as a powerful reminder of the cost of freedom and the enduring legacy of
those who served beneath the waves. Joining the Camp in this act of remembrance was Brother Roy Ota,
National Commander in 2006–2007, who proudly assisted with the color guard detail. His participation
underscored the continued commitment of our fraternal and military communities to honor those who made the
ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.
