CAMP NEWS
GEN MORDECAI GIST CAMP, Fort Jackson Chapter 184, Richard R. Barton, Adjutant.
While the South Carolina Region, consisting of General Mordecai Gist Camp, Moultrie Camp and Kings
Mountain Camp, were encamped on 31 May 2025, a commotion commenced outside the guard lines. Further
investigation uncovered Maurice Smith, a member of National Sojourners, seeking admission into the
encampment. After some investigation into his character and more back-and-forth, the encampment
determined to make him our most recent member of the Heroes of '76.
