Whoever spares the rod hates their children,
but the one who loves their children is careful
to discipline them, (Proverb 13:24).
Stern discipline awaits anyone who leaves the path;
the one who hates correction will die, (Proverb 15:10
Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge,
but whoever hates correction is stupid, (Proverb 12:1).
Thus we should neither take discipline lightly nor become
disheartened by it as the Lord discipline everyone he accepts as a son
(Hebrew 12:5-6), And we should know that God disciplines us for
our good so that we may share in his holiness (Hebrew 12:10).
Likewise when we discipline our children, they receive wisdom
(Proverb 29:15) and they will bring us peace (Proverb 29:17) and
respect (Hebrew 12:9). In fact, children at a tender age are able to
discern that discipline is rooted in love. That is why children who
grow up in homes without discipline often feel unloved and are more
likely to disobey authority as they grow older. Know that discipline
administered should be commensurate with the offence and its
intention must be for correction and for the betterment of the child.
Also, know that discipline itself is Love because no one disciplines
someone he does not love because it simply means I want the person
to come out very good and great in life, so no one wishes such for
someone he hates. Physical discipline such as sparkling, etc. is
certainly condoned by the bible (Proverb 13:24; 22:15; and 23:13-
14). Indeed discipline though it may seem unpleasant when received
will produce a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who
have been trained by it (Heb12:11).
