In this context it means the failure of parents to pay attention, to
ignore, not to show concern, disregard and properly care for their
kids. As a matter of importance, you must observe, listen, and pay
attention even to the things that do not matter before it becomes
matters arising. Also, you must be available and accessible. All
your labours (including labour pains and nine months), sleepless
night and pursuit of wealth or material things is to secure their
future but when the major issues are not addressed it would
become an effort in futility. Most of our parents are not available
because of the nature of their work so they leave their children at
the mercy of teachers, guardians and maids without supervision.
Also when they are available they are not accessible because is
either they are tired or busy with food, phone, office work carried
home, and television for what is happening around the world but
in your home, under your nose you don't know what's happening.
Most often they only ask if they have done their homework and
finished their food but what happens to their mood and how they
are faring. If they are troubled and faced fears or burdened about
anything they don't border to find out. We have seen and heard the
recent turn of an event happening in our boarding schools these
children come for holidays yet their parents didn't notice they are
being troubled or any form of abnormal behavior and tried to find
out because they don't pay attention and that is neglect.
