PROGRESSIONAL UPDATE: A HUGE WIN FOR MIRC G-8!
A Major Win for the Military Intelligence Readiness Command (MIRC) MIRC: Innovation, Efficiency,
and Cost Savings!
Faced with a $450K price tag from an outside contractor to develop an automated spend plan tool,
MIRC took matters into its own hands! With financial constraints in mind, the Modernization &
Transformation Task Force (M&T-TF) was launched to tackle the challenge head-on. Enter MAJ
Cory Bohannon and 1LT Moller Evan—who didn’t just meet the requirement; they built out the
entire program in-house, delivering the same capability while saving the command nearly HALF A
MILLION DOLLARS! The mission didn’t stop there! Under the leadership of COL Cortney
Boyce, MIRC G-8, LTC Aaron House, Deputy G-8 — MIRC G-8 Soldiers, and Budget Officer MAJ
Kimberly Ijanaten moved quickly to implement this tool and train the force, ensuring a seamless
transition and maximizing its impact across the command. This is innovation in action—a
testament to the power of ingenuity, resourcefulness, and mission-driven excellence. The MIRC
continues to set the standard for smart, efficient modernization.
The Military Intelligence Readiness Command (MIRC) G-8 launched its 1st Budget Requirements
Tool
During MIRC’s Annual G-8 Workshop 03-05 MARCH 25, COL Cortney Boyce, MIRC G-8 and MAJ
Cory Bohannon, MIRC Modernization & Transformation Task Force (M&T-TF) Executive Officer
briefed the Spend Plan Tool. The Budget Requirements Tool is used at the company level to
manage each Soldier’s active-duty plan for the fiscal year (FY). The Training NCO and Company
Commander/1SG work directly with their Soldiers to assess Combined Training Event (CTE)
attendance, Professional Military Education (PME) requirements and other additional duty
requirements. The tool prompts the user (Training NCO or CDR/1SG) for data entry and
automatically calculates the estimated RLAS and DTS orders cost. The completed entries are
consolidated to the Battalion level for validation. The Battalions’ validated entries are consolidated
to the Brigade for an additional level of validation. The Brigade’s validated entries are then
consolidated to the MIRC G-3 for final validation.
