designed to enable concurrent events for both participants and senior delegates in attendance.
Everyone had a chance to experience dining temple dishes and to visit various sites of interest
on this scenic volcanic island.

An International memorial service to commemorate the 70 Anniversary of Jeju 4.3 Massacre
was held in conjunction with this event marking the uprising of insurgency by local Jeju Islanders
against the Government for the locals fear further division of the Korean Peninsula on 3 April
B.E. 2491 (1948). The memorial ceremony seeks to appease restless spirits and to pray that
lasting peace prevail not only in Korean Peninsula but all over the world. The service was hosted
by Korea-Jeju Youth Buddhist Community with the support from the World Fellowship of
Buddhist Youth in Jeju 4.3 Peace Park on 17 March B.E. 2561 (2018).

Through the support given by Dato’ Tan Gin Soon, Vice President of The WFB, the WFBY
Regulatory Committee met in Penang, Malaysia to review and realign the WFBY Constitution
with WFB’s. The EXBO present earlier paid courtesy visit to Dato’ Tan Gin Soon and met
with members of Penang WFB Regional Branch.

Malaysia YMBA Scholarship and Relief Center
To-date, the above Relief Center has been allocated a donation of JPY5 million from Japan
Buddhist Federation as part of WFB Humanitarian project. Another THB1 million fund
balance from World Buddhist Kitchen has been donated to Young Men Buddhist Association,
Nepal (YMBA) as a start-up fund for the building. 4 of the 10 rooms have been sponsored by
JYBA plus another by Ven. Weijing. The disaster relief training will be provided by JYBA while
Thailand will train on EMS treatment for disaster victims. YMBA in turn will provide the
human resources to be trained for such emergency situation.
Two students have been selected to receive the scholarship which covered tuition, tiffin,
books and stationary expenses amounting to USD800/student/year and the monies has been
given for 2 years already. Both students are doing well in their studies. The next action is to
select is to select up to 8 students to receive this scholarship. To date, YMBA has paid these
monies to the students and WFBY will reimburse the fund to YMBA amounting to USD3,200
(USD800/student x 2 students for 2 years).
Dr. Woraphat, WFBY Advisor, has been appointed to sit in the Scholarship Advisory
Committee.
