Diagnosis- illumination
Diagnostic Procedure
1. Checking fuse
(a) Ignition switch: OFF.
(b) Check fuse F14 (7.5A) in body fuse
block.

Check if the fuse is OK.
Yes > Go to step 2.
No > Replace fuse.
2. Checking brake light switch
(a) Remove brake light switch (refer to “Chapter 26 Service Brake-Brake Pedal,
Replacement”).
(b) Check brake light switch B105.
Resistances:
Use a multimeter Specified
Condition
to connect pins value
Brake light switch 1 - 2 > 1 MΩ
OFF
Brake light switch 1 - 2 ≤ 2 Ω
ON
Are check results normal?
Yes > Go to step 3.
No > Replace brake light switch.
3. Checking harnesses
(a) Use a multimeter to measure resistance between pin 2 of brake switch B015 and pin 3 of
J101.
(b) Use a multimeter to measure resistances between pin 12 of J101 and grounds C237 and
C238.
Resistance: ≤2Ω
Are check results normal ?
Yes > Replace bulbs.
No > Repair or replace harnesses.
