Diagnosis- combination meter

(c) Ignition switch: ON.
(d) Use a multimeter to measure voltage to
ground of connector pin 15 of
combination meter B033.
Voltage: approx. 0V

(e) Start the engine and wait until its normal temperature is reached.
(f) Use a multimeter to measure pulse
04 signals on connector pin 15 of
combination meter B033.
Signal value: 100~200 Hz (at idle)

Are check results normal?
Yes > Replace combination meter assembly.
No > If speed signal is not available, go to step 2.
If speed signal is available, repair the line between connector pin 15 of combination meter
B033 and connector pin 9 of ECM C033.
2. Checking tachometer signal circuit
(a) Ignition switch: OFF.
(b) Disconnect battery negative cable.
(c) Disconnect connector of ECM C033.
(d) Use a multimeter to measure resistance
between connector pin 15 of
combination meter B033 and connector
pin 9 of ECM C033.
Resistance: ≤2Ω
(e) Use a multimeter to measure resistance
to ground of connector pin 15 of
combination meter B033.
Resistance: >1MΩ

Are check results normal?
Yes > Replace ECM. (Refer to Service Manual for Cummins ISF Series Engines.)
No > Repair the line between connector pin 15 of combination meter B033 and connector pin 9 of
ECM C033.
