STRUCTURE AND FIRST SEASON ARC

The first season of #VIRAL comprises three acts, with clear character arcs
and an open ending.

ACT I (Episodes 1-3): After watching Kasey’s suicide video online, Vera
Gaitán, a failed blogger, questions what is shown in the video and embarks
on a quest to discover the truth behind this viral clip. What begins as
a hunch sets in motion the discovery of an underworld of sociopaths who
worship an eerie Internet urban legend: the Plague Doctor, or “Bird Man,”
Dr. Schnabel, who may be responsible for the apparent suicide.

ACT II (Episodes 4-6): After infiltrating the encrypted forum of The L3G10N,
Vera manages to track down Kasey’s killers. What appears like a grand
showdown and a victory for Vera is actually the beginning of The L3G10N’s
plan to go after her. Blinded by her growing on-line popularity, Vera is
abandoned by her friends and allies, and she is unable to see that The
L3G10N is closing in on her to execute a cruel plan.

ACT III (Episodes 7-8): The L3G10N launches a merciless attack on Vera,
manipulating her online identity and making her infamous as quickly as
she became famous. Desperate and confined to her house, Vera endures a
prolonged period of cyberstalking and harassment, and comes to understand
Kasey’s fate. In an attempt to find the mastermind behind The L3G10N, Vera
recruits her friends once more, and with their help manages to outsmart the
L3G10Nnaires and dismantle the forum for good or so they believe.
