Point 5: Learning English can help develop life skills.
Supporting details:
a) According to Mahu (2012), learning English as a foreign language involves different
learning skills and helps develop life skills through listening, writing and reading.
b) According to Mahu (2012), if studied from a young age, there will be a very
noticeable benefit to cognitive development such as creativity, problem-solving and
reasoning.
c) Learning English will be a better adaptation to deal with unfamiliar and new
situations.
d) Learning English means being able to communicate with people from all walks of
life.
Point 6: The benefit of learning English is it can increase understanding of one’s own culture.
Supporting details:
a) According to Mahu (2012), if we study English and its culture, we will be able to see
our own culture with another perspective.
b) Studying English will help us encounter other cultures and will allow us to question
things that are taken to be universal.
c) Studying a foreign language will give the opportunity of stepping outside the
boundary of everyday life.
d) experiencing other cultures and personal development through the study of a foreign
language will greatly shape identity and heighten self-awareness.
Conclusion: The English language plays an important role in all aspects of society, therefore
learning and mastering it would greatly give advantage to the person concerned.
