Echoes of Valour
A Poem by By Hafsah Bello Mohammed (Year 11 Senegal)
In fields where silent shadows rest,
Nigerian heroes gave their best.
Their names are etched in history’s scrolls,
For freedom’s cause, they paid the toll.
Through battles fierce, and nights so long,
They stood with courage, firm and strong.
In honour now, we raise our song,
For those who gave, and now are gone.
With hearts in mourning, heads bowed low,
We feel the loss, the silent woe.
Yet in their valour, light does grow,
A beacon in our darkest throes.
In times of Boko Haram and bandits’ strife,
Amidst the insecurity that shadows life,
Their sacrifice shines ever bright,
Guiding us through the darkest night.
Let music swell, a solemn tune,
Beneath the sun and silver moon.
For those who served and left us soon,
We honour them, our brave platoon.
