the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
The first stop was the Maize Improvement
Unit, where Mr. Oyekunle Akin explained
key concepts such as inbred lines, plant
spacing, rogueing, and the three-month
growth cycle of maize. Students also
explored the ethnobotanical garden,
the cassava unit, and the 40-foot-deep
man-made lake before visiting the water
treatment plant. There, Juliana guided
them through purification processes
and the importance of clean water.
