        Pearce Overcomes All Things

COVID-19, the San Antonio freeze, and campus fi re could not slow down
this campus of resilient learners and teachers. Every day, our staff and
students report to class to make the best of an already fantastic day.

Custodians, maintenance, and operations gathered together to work
over the weekend of the fi re to clean tables, move furniture, and organize
common areas so that the school could function at its best. Students
came in on Monday, April 19th, and still had their regular instructional day

because of the hard work of these ladies and gentlemen. Pearce couldn’t
Pearce Elementary student 5th grader Nikko Garcia, FFA have done it without them and the commitment of our very own Pearce
        winner Grand Champion Swine.
staff . Our staff members picked up what was left of their classrooms and
offi ces, moved from one side of the school to the other, and started the day off like they would any other day. Their colleagues

and friends gave up their spaces to become mobile so that students would have a classroom learning environment. Our
staff , students, and their families are troopers! Their fl exibility, ability to adapt and compassion for the situation has not gone
unnoticed. We appreciate how the Pearce Family has come together to get through these moments and fi nish strong.

Teacher Shows Passion & Creativity During Pandemic

Mrs. Bianca Villarreal truly makes learning fun for Pearce
students who are in the LID (Low Incidence Disabilities) class -
most of whom have an intellectual disability. She was indeed an
enthusiastic quick study of a comprehensive computer program
called Unique Learning now used in all of the LID classrooms
across the district facilitating students’ learning their core
academic skills, Life Skills, Current events, and Social Skills.
Mrs. Villarreal is the Special Olympics Coach for her campus
and her students will be able to compete in Bowling, Basketball,
and Track & Field - as soon as the games start again after a
year long pause during covid19. She is super creative and
truly a champion for her students - advocating for them to have
Pictured Mrs. Bianca Villarreal, teacher at Pearce Elementary.
the same opportunities as other students including going to
“Specials’’ and PE, including Adaptive PE.
Mrs. Villarreal truly has a passion for teaching and has a goal of someday becoming an administrator. Mrs. Villarreal is truly
an asset to her students, to the Pearce Primary Campus and to the Special Program Department.
