Our Students Are STAARS

All staff , students, and parents here at Freedom Elementary are
often referred to as Freedom family. One thing this Freedom
family knows how to do is best, is celebrate. And boy did we

celebrate big recently. We had our fi rst ever Drive Thru Pep
Rally to celebrate all the amazing hard work from our third, fourth,
and fi fth grade students as they have been preparing for the big
upcoming STAAR test. We had fully decked out hallways to

motivate our students. We were loud and proud as we cheered
for each and every 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade student as they left
the building. The air was full of bubbles, silly string, and lots
and lots of confetti! Music blasted as each student got to walk

through the offi cial Southside Fighting Cardinal infl atable. One

student told his family that he felt like a real celebrity, to which
we replied, YES! all our students here at Freedom Elementary are celebrities!

Scholastic Book Fair

Our parents and students were hankering to get their

hands on some new reading material! Freedom had our
fi rst Scholastic Open Air Book Fair that was a smashing
success! The concept went over so well, that Mrs. C.
Rodriguez is planning on making this a yearly fundraising

event. Thank you to all the students and parents who
helped make the book fair one of the most successful
book fairs. A big shout out to Mrs. C. Hurtado for helping
and for donating her time after school to help close the

book fair for fi ve days straight. All proceeds go to the
improvement of the library, new library books, material for
STEAM projects, prizes for Accelerated Reader, Texas
Bluebonnet Award reading programs, and end of year

celebrations.
