Poem
A Place I Can Reach
By: Shuvani Singh
I hear stories at night
Before I go to bed
About a magical world called Peace.
And it seems to go to this world,
Is more difficult than said.
I hear this land has soldiers
But violence, not a shred
No painful sounds of gunshots and grenades
And for every lost friend
A sincere eulogy read.
I hear this place has angels,
Fairies, kings, and queens
All in the form of humans
Who were kind enough to put others
Before selfish means
This is the world where I hope to die,
And a world where I hope to live
A world that I hope I can find
Within myself as well, so it won’t be
A land never reached.
