presenting a sense of urgency to you.
Procrastination – if you think this is a very bad habit, yes you are
right in a way. However, procrastination is good for you. Yes, read
it again. Why would I say that? Let me ask you a question. Are you
operating at 100% of your potential? Before you even answer the
question, I would help you answer it; YES. What are you thinking?
If you are protesting in your mind that it is not true; that’s good. It
means that you can expand beyond where you are and make it
bigger. Everyone is operating at 100% of their potential now but it
doesn’t mean that the potential cannot be stretched, it is just the
limit of their capability at this point. What is this got to do with
procrastination? Your next level is hidden behind those tasks you
are procrastinating about. Everyone procrastinates because there
is always a gap between where you are and where you want to be,
right in the middle of that is procrastination. If you learn how to
manage it effectively as I am sharing with you here now, you will
master procrastination and it would be easy to do. In my coaching
practice, when a client tells me that they have a procrastination
problem, I would ask them to make a list of 3 things they are
procrastinating about. I would then ask them to do one immediately
or after our session. At our next session, some of them would say
they have done all the 3 tasks. So, why don’t you take it as if you
have got a free coaching session with me and make a list of 3
things you are procrastinating and go do one of them right now? If
it is a big stuff, I would tell you how to deal with big stuff next. So,
procrastination is good for you because it is a pointer to your next
level of achievement. Let me give you a clue on how to identify
what you are procrastinating about; it is in the word ‘should’.
Whenever, you catch yourself using the word ‘I should do this, or I
should avoid that’ write down the task in your journal. At the end
of every day, make a list of 3 things you are procrastinating about
from your journal; do them first thing the next day. I gave this
exercise to a client of mine who is an Estate Agent and she sold
over 4 million worth of real estate within 6 months. Why is this so
powerful? It is called the ‘mindset ceiling’. Your mind will push you
to procrastinate any task that may help you shatter the glass
ceiling you have installed in your own mind. I would talk about the
mindset ceiling in more detail in my subsequent books because it
is a very wide transformational concept. So, when you apply this
