Rolling Hitch

The rolling hitch can be seen as a very

                sophisticated relation to the clove
hitch. It is important to ensure that

the second turn locks over the first
turn. The rolling hitch is made to pull
without slipping in one direction only,

with the working part pulling hard
down against the two turns, so

locking them in place. To pull in the
opposite direction requires the knot to
be made in the opposite direction.

                Either version will work satisfactorily
with the rope pulling at a right angle.
