Pocket Guide to Knots & Splices
1 Make a crossing turn with the working
end passing under the standing part of
the rope. Make a bight in the standing
part.
2 Tuck the bight formed in the standing part
up through the loop.
3 Tighten a little and take the working part
in a counterclockwise direction round the
standing part.
4 Tuck the working end through the bight,
ensuring that the working part fits snugly
into the crossing part of the original
overhand knot. Work all slack out to form
a neat tight knot.
5 The finished knot.
