Double Crown Knot
By starting with a loosely tied crown knot and bringing each of the ends down
the middle, a double crown knot is made. This gives a larger swelling to the
end, increasing the amount of grip if you choose to use this as the start of a
back splice.
Some people find it a great help to see where exactly each of the strands
should go by making up a bundle of three different colored cords to simulate
three-stranded rope.
