New Bowie State president meets with campus communityew Bowie State president meets with campus community
From 2008-14, she served as the school's vice president for
students affairs. In that position, she supervised financial aid,
counseling services, athletics and residential programs.
She also worked as the dean of students at the University of
the Sciences in Philadelphia — her hometown – from 2000-
08. Prior to that, she worked in the administration at Drexel
University.
"Having served a a dean of students and a vice president of
student affairs, my commitment is to students and their
excellence," she said. "Secondly, I have built external
relationships for my current institution that have served us
well in enhancing the endowment. As I look to the future of
Bowie State, we have to do more of that to ensure the
community is supporting the students and ensuring they have
the access and affordability to to come here and graduate on
time."
Breaux said she plans to enlist the help of those in the area
surrounding the campus.
"I need to reach out to the business community, the
government agencies and see how we can partner so our
students can have the kind of rich experiences our students
at Bowie State have had for the last 150 years."
