iv) RETROFITMENT OF IGBT AUXILIARY CONVERTER
Locomotives having repeated failure of OCBs are being provided with
IGBT Auxiliary converter-1. Till date 22 locomotives equipped with GTO
Auxiliary Converter-1 were retrofitted with IGBT Auxiliary Converters.
v) COMMISSIONING OF TRAIN COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM (TCAS)
To become a total collision-free national mode of transportation for
both the passengers and freights services, Indian Railways is
commissioning the country's indigenously developed SIL-4 certified
"Train Collision Avoidance System" (TCAS), known as 'KAVACH', on
almost all the prominent rail routes. The KAVACH being implemented
on Indian Railways has been designed in a manner to prevent Signal
Passing at Danger (SPAD) cases, unsafe situations arising due to over
speed and train collisions in station area as well as in block sections.
Till date this system is installed in 07 locomotives based at ELS/LGD.
vi) IN-HOUSE COMMISSIONING OF HOG LOCOMOTIVES
Conversion of EOG trains to HOG system is a mission item of Railway
Board and Dashboard item of Hon’ble MR in the wake of huge
financial saving in terms of Diesel fuel besides reduction in noise and
air pollution. To adhere to accomplish this mission WAP7 locos are
being retrofitted with Hotel Load Converters to cope for the demand
of HOG compatible trains. To promote Green Technologies, ELS/LGD
has retro fitted Hotel load converters in 22 non-HOG locomotives by
carrying out suitable modifications in the body of locomotive. M/s
Jainex limited, Mumbai vide LOA No. ELS-LGD-
ELECTRICAL/RC_341A/00028630052984, has carried out in 09
locomotives, control/Power wiring along with provision of suitable
transformer was done by shed. ELS/LGD is holding 120 WAP7
locomotives out of these 74 locomotives are HOG compatible. In
balance 46 locomotives HLCs are being provided on availability of
Converters.
