Early Childhood (0-8 years)
Ready Schools
o Align curriculum between early childhood providers and schools
o Convene early childhood providers and kindergarten teachers to develop kindergarten
transition process to include education for early childhood providers on school standards o Ensure Early Childhood Standards of Quality
 Develop an education campaign
 Support all early childhood centers in acquiring high quality standards
o Identify & accommodate children with disabilities
 Provide training for teachers and childcare providers to identify suspected developmental delays as early as possible. Specifically those who do not have access to services such as family/group providers
o Align school attendance policies:
 Educate providers on recommended exclusion criteria and encourage reviewing
policies on school attendance. Align with CDC and County Health Department
guidelines
o Ensure all children have quality early learning experiences in childcare or at home
Ready Communities
o Increase family involvement with literacy
 Develop a baseline of existing programs
 Increase awareness of library resources and programming
 Empower and inform parents with information about best practices
o Expand and continue to support home visiting programs for parents
 Access and support
 Common training for all home visit personnel on early childhood literacy
 Provide holistic approach to early childhood development
o Ensure safe areas for learning, play and exploring
