AQMA Feasibility Assessment
               A2 – Keycol Hill and Key Street, Swale



                 1.11   SBC has already declared several AQMAs across the borough. Two of these are
                        located  in  Sittingbourne,  with  others  in  Newington,  Ospringe  and  Teynham.
                        Four of these AQMAs are situated along the A2. These AQMAs were declared
                        between 2009 and 2017 due to exceedances of the UK AQS for annual mean
                        NO2.

                 1.12   SBC  updated  the  AQAP  in  2018  to  consolidate  and  combine  action  plan
                        measures  into  a  strategic  borough  wide  AQAP.  The  updated  “Swale  Strategic
                        AQAP 2018 – 2022”  sets out the strategy and next steps in delivering the AQAP

                        measures  including  the  introduction  of  a  Clean  Air  Zone  (CAZ)  or  “Clean  Air
                        Corridor” along the A2 in Swale.
