The  agricultural  production  in  the  governorate  varies  between

               winter crops such as wheat bean linen, onion barley and summer

               crops  like  cotton  rice  watermelons  and  potatoes  in  addition  to

               citrus, grapes, date, guava, banana and pear.






               Industrial activity:


               The  industrial  activity  in  Damietta  is  considered  the  best

               economic model. It depends on the human element and most of

               the small production units are private ones.






               The  governorate  is  famous  for  its  craft  industries,  mainly
               furniture,  dairy,  desserts,  shoes,  spinning  and  weaving,  fish


               canning, cooking oils, soap, rice mills, wheat mills, freezing and
               packing of vegetables and fruits.






               In addition, Damietta port, which serves as a reciprocal port with

               the port of Alexandria, is a transit port which has the largest space

               for  containers  in  Egypt.  Not  mention  a  fishing  fleet  and  a  ship

               building arsenal.
