The governorate has an industrial free zone, east the seaport on an
area of 190 feddans dedicated to industrial oriented products
export and another industrial zone south New Damietta city on an
area of 200 feddans.
A global logistics center for the storage of grain and seeds in
Damietta port will be established. It is a giant national project to
meet the local market's needs and the surrounding regional
markets of grain. The project's area is about 3.350 million

m modern silos and stone houses will be set up with a capacity of
7,5 million tons.
Education
The total number of the schools in the governorate is 854 in the
academic year [2013 - 2014] including 48 private schools, 47
ones for the technical education and 155 institutions of Al-Azhar
education. Also, the University of Damietta includes 8 colleges.
· Research and healthy centers:
The governorate has about five research centers and there are four
hospitals affiliated to the Ministry of Health and El-Helal Health
