שׁ ָגּ ֻמ בוּט ל ָכּ ל ֵבּ ַק ְמ רי ִע ָצ גוּז ם ִא .יוֹר ְת ִפּ ַה ת ֶא וּא ְצ ְמִי י ַמ ְזּ ַה
The author has brought to me what he has committed to writing
– his instruction to Chatanim who are B’nei Torah, to guide them ַעי ִגּ ַמ לֹכּ ַה"( תוּיּ ִכֹנ ֱא ָה ת ֶא לי ִדּ ְג ַמ ר ָב ָדּ ַה ,ף ֶס ֶכּ ל ֶשׁ שׁ ָגּ ַמ ל ַע
and to educate them on the path they should take in their new ,גוּזּ ַה ת ַבּ וֹא י ֶבּ י ַע ַמ ְל תֹוֹש ֲע ַל יוֹצ ָר ָה ת ֶא ם ֵצ ְמ ַצ ְמוּ ,)"י ִל
partnered lives in marriage according to the Torah. The great rabbi,
my precious friend the Tzadik Rabbi Chayim Friedlander Shli’tah, ה ָבוּשׁ ֲח ה ֶלּ ֵא םי ִמ ָע ְטּ ִמ י ֵכ ָל .םי ִרוּתּ ִו ְל תוּנ ָכוּמּ ַה ת ֶא יי ִט ְק ַמוּ
the Mashgiach in the Ponovez Yeshiva. “The Torah that I learned ה ֵבּ ְר ַה ה ָאי ִב ְמּ ֶשׁ ה ָרוֹה יוֹי ָסּ ִנּ ַה ְו ,יי ִאוּשּׂ ִנּ ַה י ֵנ ְפ ִל ה ָכ ָר ְד ַה ַה םוֹיּ ַה

was written while he was suffering intense pain during his stay in .ךְ ַר ָבּ ְתִי 'ה ת ַר ְז ֶע ְבּ ת ֶל ֶעוֹתּ

instruction to Chatanim who are B’nei Torah. When I read this
essay it was so extraordinarily wonderful to me as I have never seen רוֹר ְצ ִל תוֹפּ ַצ ְל יי ֵא ְו ,ם ָל ְשׁ ֻמּ ַה תִי ַבּ ַה - תִי ַבּ ַה םוֹל ְשׁ יוּנּ ִכּ ל ֶשׁ
anything as beautiful as this. One can see the depth of thought and ָתּ ְר ַת ָפוּ ךְ ָכּ הֹ ֵש ֲע - וֹז הָי ָע ְבּ ת ֶר ֶרוֹע ְת ִמ ם ִא :תוֹבוֹט תוֹצ ֵע ל ֶשׁ
Fear of Hashem that went into it. Through the public’s merit which תִי ַבּ םוֹל ְשׁ ל ֶשׁ םיִי ָשׁ ְקּ ַה בֹר י ִכּ ת ַע ַד ָל וּני ֵל ָע .הָי ָע ְבּ ַה ת ֶא
is great Hashem should have mercy on him and cure him to serve
his holy duty in the Yeshiva spreading Torah and Fear of Hashem י ֵכּ ם ִא ְו ,וי ָתוֹנוּכ ְתוּ וי ָתוֹדּ ִמ ,ם ָד ָא ָה ל ֶשׁ וֹע ְב ִט ךְוֹתּ ִמ םי ִע ְבוֹנ
for many years.
אלֹ יא ַדּ ַו ְבּ .וי ָתוֹנוּכ ְתוּ וי ָתוֹדּ ִמ ,וֹע ְב ִט רוּפּ ִשׁ ְבּ שׁ ָר ְשׁ ֻמ יוֹר ְת ִפּ ַה
From the depths of my heart my blessing is that he should merit to :ל" ַצ ַז א" ָר ְגּ ַה י ֵר ְב ִד ְכּ וּניֵיּ ַח ת ַמי ִשׂ ְמ י ִהוֹז ל ָב ֲא ,תוֹנּ ַתּ ְשׁ ִה ְל ל ַק
see the coming of Mashiach.

1. Yalkut Shimoni on the pasuk in Kohelet 2:9 אפפ רב אנינח יבר רמא ה''ד :The
word ףא here in the Midrash means pain. The Midrash is teaching that the יי ֵבּ וּר ְמ ֶא ֶנּ ֶשׁ תוֹו ְצ ִמּ ַה ְו תוֹל ֲע ַמּ ַה י ָתוֹא י ֵה י ֵה וֹתּ ְשׁ ִא ְל שׁי ִא
learning one does while in a state of pain and suffering will stand for him as a
