TECHNOLOGY WITH A HEART
for better education and
project school partition

Giving back to society forms the foundation for
empowering employee volunteering initiatives
at SPi Global Laguna.
Share the infinIT Gift is the theme of this year’s
CSR program where everyone had a fair share of
contributing the best of what we have with the
young, the less fortunate, the less educated and
uninformed, through information technology.
For the Laguna Team, numerous sustainable
CSR activities throughout the year have made
every employee feel the spirit of volunteerism.
“We are a technology company and we wanted
to make sure that all our CSR activities are
aligned with the company’s CSR objectives, by
spreading IT in the community. This year, we
targeted 10,000 volunteer hours, full of exciting
and valuable activities for both our employees
and our beneficiaries,” said Ma. Cristina
Magnaye, CSR Champion.
Students at the Barandal Elementary School
Laguna had five (5) CSR beneficiaries of approx-
imately 2000 students – Barandal Elementary
School (BES), Punta Elementary School (PES),
Calamba Manpower Development Center, and
SPED Calamba.
To realize and sustain the proposed projects for
all the beneficiaries, the site launched several
fundraising activities that were participated in
by the employees: Battle of the D’Generous, Project
Love, Fun Runs (Run to InSPire 8 – Green Run, Run
to InSPire – Partner’s Run), Project: bo-IT-tle support.
The team’s goal was to raise around 250,000 pesos.
On CSR Day, around 400 Laguna employees
contributed precious hours to help run the
activities prepared for the beneficiaries. The CSR
day was more memorable for the employees and
beneficiaries, having been attended by the
company’s President and CEO Ratan Datta and a
few other leaders: Chief People Officer Marie
Ampeloquio, SVP for Marketing & External Affairs
Celeste Ilagan, Chief Compliance Officer
Atty. Francis Victoria, and SVP for Strategy & Sales
Support Govindarajan Srinivasan.
Quick programs packed with meaningful activities
were presented to the pupils of BES, PES and SPED
Calamba, that put smiles and happiness on their
faces. Among the activities were free grooming
for pupils; free massage; and cooking as livelihood
sessions for teachers and parents, conducted by the
site’s partners from CMDC. There were also feeding
programs for the pupils of BES and SPED Calamba,
painting of school building and cleaning of the
school’s garden at SPED Calamba, storytelling at
both BES and SPED, a turnover of
PC donations to BES and SPED Center, and IT
(Microsoft Word) training sessions with the
Grade 6 pupils of BES.
The highlight and major goal of the site’s CSR
program for 2018 was to build stronger classroom
partitions at the Barandal Elementary School
dubbed Project: Classroom Partitions for BES.
Due to the lack of resources, the school built
temporary classroom partitions for grade 5 and
6 pupils, which occupies half of the community’s
open gymnasium. However, these open
