Conclusion
John makes one thing abundantly clear throughout
this passage. Jesus was not taken against His will. Jesus had
willingly offered Himself as the sacrifice for sin. He was not the
victim of an angry mob. He was totally in control. Jesus went to
Gethsemane knowing that it will lead to Calvary. We can see our
Lord's perfect submission to his Father's will. The Lenten season
is the great opportunity to encounter and experience the cross
by submitting ourselves to the will of God May the peace and
love of our triune God be with us, Amen.
Like Malchus, there are many people hired to hurt or
even kill others. They do not realise to amount of pain they
inflict upon people! By healing the one who came to hurt / arrest
him, Jesus exhibited his Unconditional love and forgiveness of
the most undeserving! Malchus experienced the healing and
forgiving, transformative power of the cross! Let us pray for
the deliverance of the victimized; and seek grace of God in our
personal lives.
Conclusion
Gracious God, help us to be your agents of peace
and recouncilation, by walking in the footsteps of Jesus Christ
your son and our Lord, Amen.
