Introduction
ey to wisdom is questioning. French writer Voltaire says
K‘judge a human by his / her questions rather than the
answers’. It is worth considering how skilled you are in asking
quality questions. There are a few creative questioning techniques
such as leading questions, rhetorical questions and probing
questions. In fact many people are afraid to ask questions. But
children have many curious questions in life; they have the
capacity to question even the dominant structures of injustice.
Jesus said in Mathew 18:3 “Unless you change and become like
little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven” So
Jesus had given importance to children and their questioning
ability. Even today children are ignored and discriminated in
many communities. Sometimes we see how people push children
to understand from the elder’s point of view. Many children are
subjected to sexual exploitation, child trafficking, verbal abuse
because of poverty, lack of education, lack of support from the
family, unemployment and so on. God has a great purpose for
every child. In rural parts of India, still girl child is considered
as burden because of the patriarchy and dowry system, yet every
girl child is precious, unique and created in God’s image.
Children have massive creativity and potential. We can
see how Greta Thunberg, young girl and climate activist from
Sweden is challenging the dominant structures of our world
that harms environment. Lent is a time to explore ourselves with
quality questions. It is a time to reflect our faith and identity in
Christ. It is also a time for us to prepare ourselves to re-imagine
children’s struggles, tears and wounds. Therefore we shall
explore our meditation by reflecting on the life of a nameless
brilliant girl who questioned Peter. All four Gospels contain
