women were yet to undergo. Jesus was pity on these women
for a day would come in which they had to face such a terrible
suffering. We should realize that there are people around us who
pretend to be supportive, encouraging, caring, sympathising at
various stages of our life, where they themselves do not realize
their own disastrous future. What an ironical circumstance?
Reimaging the Mocking people: (35-38)
The soldiers and rulers scoffed, “he saved others let him
save Himself... if He is the chosen one”. “If you are the king of
Jews, save yourself.” (Mtw 27:41), This identifies the rulers as
the chief priests, scribes and elders as the primary instigators
of Jesus’ crucifixion. In the Lukan narrative the rulers are
continuing to fan the flames of hatred and abuse. This shows the
depravity of those rulers and mocking people.
The soldiers, rulers who were scoffing Jesus said ‘Save
yourself,’ the word ‘save’ which in Greek is pronounced ‘Sozo’
means; rescue, liberate, bring out safely etc., which is self
declaring that Jesus is the Saviour. The wicked mockery by
the soldiers is nothing about Jewish religion or theology; they
were merely continuing the game they had begun at His trail.

accomplished in saving a gentile who was hanging on the cross.
Jesus proved it to the mocking people that he is still reigning and
is in control to save the whole humanity. Of course the ironic
truth is by His great authority to save the whole humanity from
the sinful hell, He promised the criminal to be with Him in
Paradise the very next moment. Through this Jesus once again
proved all that he has spoken both in His time of ministry and
on the cross.
