The Moon's Last Wish
by Sloan Schreiber '25
Take me away, my moon
No longer is the sunlight
needed
For your song has given me
flight
To drift off
Into this paralyzing night
Thus, the beginning of night
Has fallen before me
Goodbye, newly bought
sheets
All I see now is the moon's
fragile face
She leans in
Soft and sweet does her
voice sound
She starts to whisper
to give a gentle kiss
For all the sorrowful dreams
I have left the world down
below
To give away my gift of
hope
A telescope is not needed up
here
Earth is my special sight
Like the dove soaring high
Maybe the swoons of people
like you need to be heard
For my moonlight is soaked
with tears
With my final wish
And all the stars showing
me the way
Take care of the darkness
That my moonlight will
wash away.
