1. Summary
~ RECOUNT TEXT ~
The Definition: A recount text is a text that retells an event or activity
that occurred in the past or an experience that has been experienced
by someone.
The Social Function: To retell events or incidents or experiences
that occurred in the past to inform or entertain the reader.
The Text Structures: Orientation, Series of Events, Re-Orientation.
Orientation: The opening part of the text or introduction which
contains the background of an event.
Series of events: Part of the body of the text that contains a series
of sequential events experienced by the author or other people
sequentially.
Re-Orientation: The concluding part of the text which contains
conclusions, messages, impressions, or the author's feelings
about the events experienced.
The Generic Structures:
Simple past tense
Using the adverb of time and using the adverb of sequences
Using conjunction and using chronological connectors
Using personal participant
Using Linking Verb
Types of Recount Text:
Personal recount: about the author’s experience.
Factual recount: about events based on the fact.
Imaginative recount: about a story that didn’t happen.
Historical recount: about historical events in the past.
