Affirmative While equal employment opportunity is a
legal duty, affirmative action can be
voluntary or involuntary.
Action Executive Orders 11246 & 11375:
Applies to all federal agencies, contractors,
and subcontractors, including all the facilities
of the agency holding the contract.
Contractors and subcontractors with more
than fifty thousand dollars in government
business and fifty or more employees are not
only prohibited from discriminating, but must
also take affirmative action to ensure that
applicants and employees are not treated
differently as a function of their sex, religion,
race, color, or national origin.
